LOCAL HEALTHY-ISH TAKE OUT OPTIONS
We miss having our gym open as much as we miss eating and drinking at our local restaurants. Just because we can’t go sit down at our favorite local joints, doesn’t mean we can’t get their food and support their business. Pick a local place and order some take-out so that they are still open when we can finally leave our homes. We admit take-out or curbside pickup isn’t the same, but it’s still a great way to have some normalcy or reward yourself for conquering another day.
Here is our list of some local favorites and some “healthy-ish” options we recommend and a portion guideline to help make any meal a healthier meal!
A White Bear Lake staple! If you want a variety of good tasty healthy options then you’ve come to the right spot!
Washington Square offers a large selection of omelets with an egg white only option and fruit substitution! We selected our favorite three!
Broccoli, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, peppers & choice of cheese. Reduce the fat by asking for light cheese or egg whites.
Chorizo, jalapeños, cilantro, onions & queso fresco. Served with salsa
Spinach & Pesto
Spinach, asparagus, pesto & parmesan cheese
Every Breakfast place has a combo of eggs, meat and side and Washington Square is no different. Combo 1, 2 or 3 are a great option! We recommend skipping the hashbrowns and subbing fruit. If you love bread don’t skip it, just watch your portion and only have one slice!
Who doesn’t love a burrito for breakfast! Your choice of meat and hash browns or fruit will be sure to get the job done!
The Square has a wide variety of salads to choose from with plenty of protein options! The more variety of veggies the better, but we recommend getting the one that you want and make sure you reduce excess calories like too much dressing or cheese.
Sandwiches, Wraps & Entrees:
Bread isn’t bad, too much bread is bad. Choose the wild rice multigrain bread for sandwiches and switch out fries for cottage cheese or a side salad. Keep condiments like mayo to a minimum and you have a well-balanced meal.
